Alexius took part in the initiative seeking to modernize the Ministry of Labor in Guatemala. The analysis called for a number of projects to take place in order for the organizational and system restructuring to occur. Alexius took part at all levels of the modernization process, including project design and implementation. Alexius utilized tools such as open source software and innovative strategic planning to address the challenges in deploying a newly developed back-office deployment and establishing an IT department within the Ministry. The project went very well, and has since been broadened to the entire region under a program called Regional Labor Modernization. By connecting the Ministry to the internet and providing it with network services, including e-mail, firewall, and an extranet portal, as well as establishing a Chief Information Officer and IT department that reports directly to the Ministry, Alexius was able to help re-organize and re-structure the Ministry's workflow. Included under the larger umbrella project were Open Source Migration and Extranet Portal, among others.
